Introducing the Molchanovs Bifins Hard Case: Maximum Protection on Wheels

The first wheeled hard-shell case designed specifically for bifins is now available – bringing protection, organization, and effortless mobility to every freediving journey.

Up until now, traveling with bifins has always required compromise. Their length and fragility make them difficult to fit into conventional luggage, while soft and semi-rigid bags offer limited protection from the realities of travel. 

The new Molchanovs Bifins Hard Case changes that.

Conceived by Molchanovs co-founder and world champion freediver Alexey Molchanov, the Bifins Hard Case began as his idea for a better way to travel with freediving equipment. It was then developed and refined with feedback from Molchanovs athletes, ambassadors and instructors. The end result? A purpose-built travel solution shaped by the real needs of the freediving community.

Purpose-Built for Bifins

At the heart of the design is a long, flat interior created specifically to accommodate bifins. Unlike conventional wheeled luggage, the case has no telescopic handle or internal handle mechanism. Removing this traditional feature creates an even packing surface, preserves valuable interior space, reduces weight, and eliminates a component that is vulnerable to mechanical failure.

Instead, a wide, padded handle at the top provides a comfortable grip, while two large silicone wheels deliver smooth movement and improved traction over uneven ground. The result is a case that’s easy to maneuver through airports, along rough paths, and wherever the journey to the water leads.

Its ribbed polycarbonate shell offers maximum protection for delicate fiberglass and carbon bifins, helping shield them from the demands of transit and infamous airline baggage handling. A TSA-approved combination lock adds further peace of mind along the way.

One Case, Two Independent Halves

The Bifins Hard Case’s most distinctive innovation is its detachable construction. The case separates into two independent halves, transforming it from travel luggage into a versatile equipment-management system.

At a dive site, the wheeled bottom half can be used in trolley mode to move wet and heavy gear or keep equipment together on a boat. Meanwhile, the upper half can remain at the accommodation or dive center with personal belongings and valuables safely packed inside.

When the journey is over, the two halves can nest inside one another for more compact storage at home.

Space for the Complete Freediving Setup

With 90 liters of capacity, the Bifins Hard Case provides space for bifins, wetsuits, smaller equipment, a buoy, rope, and more, all in one streamlined piece of luggage. Two large internal compartments and zippered pockets make it easier to separate equipment, organize small essentials, and keep everything securely in place during transit.

The case measures 94.5 × 25 × 44.5 cm externally, weighs 4.4kg, and has a recommended maximum carrying weight of 35kg. Despite its generous capacity, its elongated profile remains focused and compact, delivering the space freedivers need without unnecessary bulk.

Developed Through Real Freediving Experience

The Bifins Hard Case began with Alexey Molchanov’s determination to solve a real challenge for freedivers: finding a lightweight, protective and convenient way to transport a large amount of gear.

The development process explored semi-rigid bags and multiple design directions. Ultimately, the Molchanovs team arrived at a solution built from two protective hard-shell halves, combining practical organization, dependable mobility, and a refined aesthetic in a form created expressly for freediving.

Every detail responds to a real need: protecting long and fragile fins, keeping equipment organized, navigating uneven terrain, transporting heavy gear at the dive site, and making storage simpler between adventures.

The result is more than a suitcase. It’s a new approach to traveling with freediving equipment – designed by freedivers, shaped by the community, and ready to go wherever the water calls.
